19.  About your purchase

19.1.  For breastmilk creations

We use a special technique to realise your breastmilk creation. The final creation containing your breastmilk can range from white to creamy yellow.  The thickness of the milk bead also affects the colour.  Thicker milk inclusions are more rich in colour and tend to appear yellowish, whereas thinner milk inclusions appear more white in appearance.

If your creation changes colour at all after receipt (which should be noticeable within 3 months of purchase) we will replace it for free, as per your original specifications. You will be required to return the defective item at your own expense.

Rest assured that we treat each inclusion with the utmost care and respect that it deserves.  Particular attention is paid to ensuring non-contamination from any source.

19.2.  Lock of hair creations

We recommend that you DO NOT send ALL that you have of your child's first curl or deceased's hair or any other hair you consider precious. Instead send only enough for us to make the bead and keep the remainder safe. If you send us more than we need we will return the excess to you along with your bead.

If sending hair which you consider precious please send by special delivery and opt for special delivery at the checkout. We will not be held responsible for any hair lost in the post, damaged during production or when encased in resin.

Hair placement is at our discretion, unless specific instructions are given when your order is placed.  Your creation is made with the sample that you have given, so if the hair is bent during transit or excessively curly, we may not always be able to lay it in a straight line.  We do our best to ensure that it is visibly appealing.

Please note that lightly coloured hair may not be as visible as darker hair. The hair will appear as it would do wet. A larger pinch of hair may help.

19.3.  Resin creations

With the exception of glass and inlay, all creations are cast in resin.  Resin is also called acrylic glass which is a type of plastic.  I use jewellers resin which has a crystal or glass like appearance, but on a basic level it is still an acrylic  plastic compound.  All resins will yellow over time, irrespective of the type of resin being used.

Depending on the order, it may be necessary for the resin is set in a mould.  In some instances it may be necessary to hand sand the resin piece once its demoulded.  Every effort is made to ensure that the item is uniform and flawless. With round jewellery pieces (particularly bubbles and charm beads), there may be instances where very slight mould lines are visible down the side of the item.  Wide charm beads are very seldom totally round and uniform.  Furthermore, due to the design of the bead, we have found that bead caps detach very easily.  We spend a lot of time is spent ensuring that your bead is as round as possible, but be mindful that it is handmade and not factory produced.

Milk orbs and shallow pendants & charms have a very thin layer of resin covering the milk inclusions.  Applying pressure, bumping or knocking the item through daily wear could cause the resin to detach from the jewellery item.  Heat could also cause detaching, cracking and expansion.  This is not a defect of the product but an inherent characteristic of resin.

Depending on the type of resin used, air bubbles may appear in the final piece. Humidity, temperature fluctuations and many other environmental factors can cause air bubbles to appear after casting. I use a wide variety of techniques to ensure that air bubbles are minimised, but if you find that you're not happy with it, please contact me to discuss your concerns.

Although we use UV stable resin, resin may discolour (turn yellow) over time. You may prevent excessive discolouration by keeping your piece out of direct sunlight, removing it before sunbathing or using sun beds, but over time it will still yellow.

All creations are cast by hand and colours and designs / placement may vary from those shown in the pictures. If you have any specific requirements then please make this known at the time of your order. Whilst we will endeavour to accommodate your wishes no guarantee is made as each piece is truly unique.

If you may find the process of concern or anticipate that you may not be satisfied with a non factory perfect produced creation, please reconsider your purchase.

19.4.  Breastmilk discolouration

Our breastmilk inclusions, when set in resin, do no discolour.

However, when adding a biological substance (breastmilk, cremation ashes, placenta, umbilical stumps and lock of hair), there is a slight possibility that the inclusion may cause a chemical reaction to the resin, and cause the resin to discolour.  As every person has a different chemical make up, so will the inclusions significantly significantly differ from person to person.  It may be something as apparently insignificant as an enzyme in your breastmilk or the shampoo used to wash your child's hair.  If your resin creation discolours significantly within the first 30 days, please get in contact with us and we will replace your item.

19.5.  Silver

19.5.1  Sterling silver

Silver is a precious metal and, much like gold, is too fine to be utilised in its pure form.  Sterling silver items contain a minimum of 92.5% pure silver. To make silver durable enough for use in jewellery, pure silver, which has a .999 fineness (99.9%), is often alloyed with small quantities of copper (7.5%). The copper is added to strengthen the silver and the resulting product is .925 sterling silver (92.5%). Acceptable quality marks for sterling silver include: sterling, sterling silver, ster, and .925

Any creation marked as sterling silver in store is made with high quality sterling silver.  It may or may not reflect 925 hallmark or stamp.  Sterling silver tarnishes over time.  Tarnish is a dulling which naturally occurs when silver reacts with sulphur or hydrogen sulphide in the air. Most people think silver tarnishes due to oxidation. But, chemically speaking, silver is not very reactive—it does not react with oxygen or water at normal temperatures. Perfume, sweat and other chemicals may cause sterling silver to tarnish quicker.  Gentle polishing with a soft cotton cloth can remove tarnish as soon as it starts to show.

19.5.2  Fine silver

Fine silver is 99.9 % pure silver and is used to make sculptural and three dimensional jewellery.  Proper care needs to be taken to ensure longevity of your purchase.

  1. Avoid submerging jewellery pieces in water and that includes showering, mineral spas, bathing, swimming and other activities.  Your pieces will look newer longer if you take them off before swimming, showers, etc.

  2. Avoid harsh chemicals/cleaning solutions, such as perfume, hairspray, nail varnish remover, body lotions, household cleaners, dishwashing liquid, hand soaps. etc. Apply / use these products before wearing your creation.  Chemicals will also speed up the tarnishing process of sterling silver creations.

  3. Remove your creation before exercising or before bedtime.  Sleeping with your creation will damage it.

  4. Avoid knocks, scratches, bending it, standing on it, sleeping in it or any other excessive force.

  5. Avoid placing pressure on your jewellery as it can damage it.

  6. With some creations, jump rings and other jewellery findings are used to secure the creation. Please ensure that you regularly check that the findings are securely fastened and that there are no broken or lose pieces. Vickie cannot be held responsible if your creation becomes detached or lost.

  7. Be kind to your jewellery and keep it in a jewellery box when you’re not wearing it.  Ensure that it is clean and dry before storage as moisture will speed up the tarnishing process.  Clean sterling silver creations with a silver cleaning cloth to remove tarnish and restore its brightness.

  8. Avoid excessive rubbing of coloured metal pieces as it can remove the rainbow oxidants used.

19.5.3  Soldered items

All silver backed pendants, pearls, charms, keyrings, rings, and lockets are made with metal (gold filled, sterling silver or silver plated).  In all instances, these metal settings are assembled by the manufacturer and will include the setting (where the inclusions are set) and a loop or pendant holder (for charms and pendants) or ring (for rings).  These metal pieces are soldered (welded) together.  We do not provide soldering services and cannot remove soldering from a setting as it will weaken the structure of the creation.

19.6.  Printed text

All creations that include printed text will be made using font style Ariel Rounded Bold.  For smaller creations / longer text, Ariel Narrow font will be used.  Any other font style needs to be specifically requested and we will accommodate any request within our ability.

If anything in the process listed above is of grave concern to you, please reconsider your purchase.

20.  Claiming a special offer or gift voucher "coupon"

Only one special offer or gift voucher can be claimed at a time, unless specifically stated to the contrary.  Coupons have an expiry date and cannot be applied retrospectively.

Coupons cannot be exchanged for a refund and no refunds or coupons will be given on partial claims against a coupon.

21.  Payment

1.  Payment for your order is made up front.

2.  The remitter will be liable for all remitting costs.  Details of where to send payments can be found during the checkout process.

3.  Unpaid order will be rejected after 24 hours.  You are invited to resubmit your order at a more suitable time.

22.  Changes to your order

We are able to accept any changes to your order until such time as we receive your inclusions.  After you are informed that we received your inclusions, it will be accepted that your order is correct and we will proceed as such.

If you contact us during the completion process, or after we have completed your order requesting a change,  we will be happy to assist.  However, you will be liable to cover half of the original price of the original item in addition to the full price of the new item. Only the replacement item will be sent to you.

23.  Completion time

We will endeavour to complete each order within the specified turnaround times. However, be mindful that the process used in creating your unique creation is very lengthy as there are multiple drying processes between each stage.  As such, in some instances, more than the specified time would be needed to complete an order.

Please note that time frames are an estimate and the process may take longer or shorter. You will be informed should there be any delays. Many factors are taken into account when making your creation, including the time we have available to create it.

Although we will endeavour to complete each item within a specified time frame, you may want to reconsider your purchase decision if this is not suitable for you.

We request that you send your inclusions to us within 3 months of placing your order.  Failing, which, your order will be cancelled and you will be given store credit to spend in our online store.  No refunds are given on store credit.

24. Receiving your order and delivery costs

Creations can be sent by either recorded or special delivery. Please advise us of your preferred method at checkout. If you consider the inclusions to be precious then please ensure you select Special Delivery at the checkout. We will not be held responsible for any creations that go astray in the post but will work with you and Royal Mail if this should occur.

Please ensure that your postage address is correct on your order and that it matches your ordering address as we will be mailing your creation to this address.  All orders received online are considered correct and it is your responsibility to ensure that the information is correct.

25.  Caring for your creation

Guidance and advice on caring for your jewellery and mementos are found in the FAQ. Failure may result in your creation being damaged over time and / or fittings becoming detached.  Repairs can be undertaken through prior arrangement with us.  There may be costs associated with the repair.

26.  Refunds and returns

All faults / damages must be reported within 7 days of receipt of your creation. If we receive no communication within 7 days then the jewellery is deemed to be in full working order with no problems.

1.  Each creation is handmade and although we will endeavour to replicate your purchase to the sample you chose, there will be slight differences in appearance. Please also note that the resin tinting of your creation may not always be exactly as it appears online.  Each resin tint is hand made and slight colour variations and possible air bubbles may be evident.

2.  As each creation is your personal breast milk or any other inclusion, we are unable to accept any refunds or offer any returns.

3.  The Labyrinth Glass Groupk is not responsible for any losses or damages to your creation, irrespective of the age of it. Guidance on Caring for your creation is provided and as such, we cannot be held responsible for how you wear or use your creation.  This includes necklace chains that break, jump rings that open and plating that wears off.

4.  If the Item is damaged you can return the item to us at the cheapest possible postage fee up to £ 5.00.  Please retain proof of postage.

27.  Warrantees

We offer a 1 month warrantee on our items.

Return charges:  We are unfortunately unable to cover return postage costs unless the item is assessed as faulty and dependant on the delivery charges paid when your order was placed, If your original order was shipped with free delivery, you will not qualify for free return fees.  If you had paid a delivery charge when your order was placed you will receive a full refund upon presentation of a postal receipt, using the cheapest recorded service requiring a signature upon delivery.  We will however happily ship any exchange items free of charge.

This guarantee does not extend to damage caused by obvious misuse where our aftercare instructions are not followed or if the jewellery is lost or stolen.

The guarantee does not cover jump rings that have opened or necklaces that have snapped.  Proper care needs to be taken to ensure that the jewellery is looked after.

Please note that we reserve the right to arrange an independent inspection of the goods. If they are found on inspection to not be faulty or as the result of fair wear and tear, negligence or wilful damage then we reserve the right to charge for the inspection. The Buyer and The Labyrinth Glass Group both agree to be bound by the result of the independent valuation.

If you wish to return the item please send by recorded or special delivery and let us know when it is on its way. If it breaks after a months we will repair it for a nominal cost.

Our total liability to the performance of this contract shall be limited to the value of the goods. We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect of consequential compensation arising out of the performance or non performance of this contract.

28.  Claiming a giveaway, prize or auction item

We support many charities and regularly donate popular creations as a prize to be raffled or auctioned to raise funds for the charity.  If you are seeking a donation, please get in touch with us.  Generally, I only offer one prize per month.

30.  Affiliates

We welcome any reasonable approaches for affiliate arrangements.  Please contact us to discuss your proposal.

All The Labyrinth Glass Group affiliates will not be held liable in any way for non performance, breach or faulty items and that all such claims should be addressed with the appropriate directly.

31.  Safety for you

Please note, all our creations are not safe for consumption and may present a chocking hazard.  Please inspect your creation regularly for wear and tear and ensure it is not left unattended with children or animals.

32. Safety for us

Unless specified to the contrary for glass creations, all our creations are made using resin.  When you receive your completed creation, the resin is cured and in a hardened form.  The hardened, finished polymers are almost non-toxic; it is exposure to the uncured resin components in its liquid form that can be harmful. In a two-component epoxy product like we use, the epoxy resin and the curing agent are packaged separately and it is mixed together just before being used. Each component can be hazardous. The resins, can affect our skin, respiratory tract, eyes and even your internal organs.  As a professional artist, we take all the proper safety procedures in our workspace when working with your inclusions and with these highly toxic chemicals.  This includes the use of full respirator masks, protective eye ware, nitrile gloves and protective clothing when handing resin in its raw liquid form.

33.  Bespoke items

From an ethical and copyright point of view, we cannot replicate another artist's design exactly. We can, within our abilities create a reasonable copy thereof.
